The Famous Birthday Bash Weekend is almost here!
The Bash is at Potawatomi State Park, Daisy Fields camping area, in Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin.
November 1st - 3rd.
Mark your calendars now!!
This is our last "official" camping weekend of the season. We camp in the south loop of the Daisy Field Campground in the state park, near the shelter. Select an electric site, and come with full water and empty tanks. Or camp in your winterized unit! The choice is yours! This is a simple weekend, relaxing, hiking, shopping, and a final extravaganza POT LUCK in the nearby shelter. No reservations are necessary. Come a day or two early, stay longer if you want! Just let me know if you will be coming and would like to be included in the count for a Fish Fry in Sturgeon Bay on Friday night.
Information for our newer members who are unsure about what to bring, or our older members with short memories:
***Water... The flushies are closed for the season, along with the dump station. Out houses are open! If you know of a dump station open along your route home, you are golden! We always use our water for our potty, showers. And if you don't want to add water to your system, November is a great month for hats! Our daughter informed us that there are shower wipes, check out Dude Wipes for Shower! Who knew???!!!
***Pot Luck contribution... We spend Saturday afternoon and evening in the nearby shelter. There will be a lovely fire in the fireplace, and you may wish to bring a chair to enjoy the warmth. Picnic tables are in the building to spread our pot luck, and electrical outlets if you want to bring a crock pot for hot dishes. If you have a favorite group game, we are always up for that too! Last year, we had an unknown group set up in the afternoon in "OUR" shelter... We had to move to a different one down the road. This year, we will mark our territory early! The shelters are on a first come first serve basis, unless we spend $$ to reserve. Which brings us to the next topic....
***No reservations needed... The beauty of this late camping weekend is the total flexibility. If the weather looks good and you decide last minute to attend, you can! A November gale coming in and you want the comfort of your home, cancel! No deposit to lose, no hurt feelings either! The tourist season in Door County is starting to slow down, so crowds are small. And many people have not enjoyed the Sturgeon Bay area in their trips to the county.
