Unit President's Message

I would like to welcome our newest THCU members - Chris Weis and Kelly Wright, Lauren Maher, Tony and Jane Causey, and Justin and Melania Benge. I would also like to welcome our new affiliates Robert and Myra Speer and Al and Cathy Lightfoot. Allison and I look forward to seeing each of you are a future rally.

Speaking of rallies, my last THCU rally at Colorado Landing RV Park, La Grange, TX (November 7 -10) is a few days away and Bob Grimes will be the EC for the officer installation. I called the park a week ago and they only had one spot remaining (in the whole park). The agenda has been set and is available on page 9. Get in your request in for the chef lunch n learn.

The next rally is in December at Grapevine Texas. Currently, the park is full, BUT they are taking names to be on a waitlist if you are interested. Check out page 10 for the number to call.

Wasn’t the 2024 international rally in Sedalia, MO a great time? I was ready for a vacation once it was done. I can’t wait to be in York, PA for next year’s international. The fun started when we joined up with a few folks to caravan to Sedalia. The caravan had stops in the east Texas piney forests, the famous bath house and the town where you can drown in the number of shows that you can attend. It was great to meet new friends and see old friends we’ve made near and far. International is known from its seminars, vendors and party like atmosphere. A couple of my favorite seminars were maintaining/repairing Dexter Axles and building/retaining membership in your club. Normally every year a team from the mother ship (Airstream Inc.) is there. They always bring a bunch of random parts and addressing issues on peoples rigs. Guess what…Shhh… they did it for free. WHAT?? Yes, I said they did it for free. I’m sure they would have charged for anything major but it was really nice of them to help people out with their rig issues. The VAC Halloween party was so much fun and everyone had a great time. I was shocked with how many great costume ideas everyone came up with. There was even one person dressed up as a sewer hose. Check out our THCU FB page for some great pictures of the caravan and international get togethers.

I would like to thank those that volunteered at international and gave their time supporting the rally. Some of the volunteer position filled were for the following: post office/mail handling, golf cart shuttling, blood drive donors and support positions, Region 9 desk, represented the unit at the meet and greet for the MAL (Members At Large) and First Timers meetings. Without volunteers, the rally would struggle.

Speaking of volunteering – YOU have a chance to volunteer at Region 9 next year at Rusk, TX. Check out Region 9 President, Tracy Elkins’ message on the next page. You also have a chance to volunteer as a THCU Rally Host. If interested check out page 10 and let Mike Green know which rally you are interested in being a host for!

Until next month...
