The Salt Springs Rally is a mere two weeks away, and it should be another great time together! A few information items:

-  We are working on a roster so we can find each other in the park   If you have not already done so, please send me your site number for this roster, You can text 9047164588 or email. Host site is #38

-  New rule in the park:  kennels and/or dog fencing is no longer allowed.  Apparently, too many people were leaving pets alone unsupervised.

- A rally alert system will provide up to date information on activities via Text message. The number will be provided prior to the rally start date.

Activities:

We hope to paddle down one of the local waterways and explore the forest (there are three other beautiful, accessible springs, a cross-Florida barge canal and Rodman Damn).  Bring games, kayaks, bathing suits, masks and snorkels, bicycles, fishing poles, hiking shoes, fire wood.  Sorry, no golf carts.  There is a boat ramp in the park and a marina to launch your boat or rent kayaks.  The Salt Spring run leads into Lake George.  Since the spring is a constant 72 degrees, and is shallow, it is always swimmable.

“Salt Springs Recreation Area is one the jewels of the Ocala National Forest, with a spectacular natural mineral spring that gives the area its name. Plenty of outdoor activities keep campers and day-use visitors busy, including swimming in the springs, fishing, snorkeling, hiking and boating. Salt Springs is located between the St. Johns and Ocklawaha Rivers, 35 miles east of Ocala, Florida.”

We look forward to seeing you there!
