Heist caravan 1

If you have not already registered for the rally, here is the link to registration:  https://airstreamclub.org/rally2024  The International Rally is almost filled, so don’t delay.

It’s a 700-mile trip from Denver to Sedalia, MO and the shortest route is to follow I-70 to Lawrence, Kansas and then drop south to old US 50 right into Sedalia.

We are using KOA’s to keep it simple but you’ll need to make reservations right away.  The campgrounds will be full with all the Airstreams headed to the same destination.

Depending on your schedule you can join us October 1 in Goodland KS, October 2 in Salina KS or October 3 in Lawrence KS.  We would like to have everyone together on the third night at the KOA in Lawrence, Kansas so we can caravan to the Missouri fairgrounds and be parked together for the International Rally. You’ll need to make your own reservations at campgrounds along the way.  Here is our planned schedule:

(Optional Early rendezvous) is at 1PM at the IHOP at Flying J in Limon, Colorado – Please let us know if you are planning to meet up at the IHOP…my cellphone is 719.447.5434

Meet October 1 at the KOA in Goodland, Kansas.  200 miles from Denver to Goodland.   The KOA is small but comfortable along highway 24 and just off I-70.   Here is the reservation information:

We are planning to have dinner and drinks at 5PM at Tequila’s Mexican Restaurant in Goodland.  Please let me know if you are planning to join us at the restaurant so we can get seated together.

Wednesday, October 2nd Optional Tour – St. Fidelis Basilica AKA “The Cathedral of the Plains” in Victoria, Kansas – You won’t believe this magnificent historic church was built mostly by its members and mostly from nearby materials in this little town in Kansas.  Room to park.  Self-guided tour with audio headphones takes about an hour.  If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth the stop.

Wednesday night October 2nd at the KOA in Salina, Kansas (250 miles from Goodland or 450 from Denver) Here is the reservation information for the KOA in Salina, Kansas.

Friday, October 4 arrival at the International Rally, about 120 miles – I’ll be contacting you as soon as parking details are firmed up.

If you would prefer to take less time getting there and don’t want the optional tours, a good option would be to make your reservation at the KOA in WaKeeney, Kansas for Wednesday October 2 and then join us at the KOA in Lawrence, Kansas on October 3rd.  It’s 310 miles from Denver to WaKeeney and 280 miles from WaKeeney to Lawrence.

Please make your campground reservations. Let me know right away if you will be joining our caravan anywhere along the trip.  Campgrounds will fill up soon with Airstreamers headed to Sedalia.
