Discovering Cascadia
Come with us and explore Cascadia. We will learn about the geology, ecoregions, cultures, music, cuisine, wine and the economic forces that have shaped this region over time. Discover what makes this bioregion so unique as we wind our way through an area also known as the Pacific Northwest, where even the mountains are alive. From the Ice age to modern day join us and discover Cascadia. The journey begins in Boise, Idaho then moves to NE Oregon and into the Walla Walla valley. From there it swings NE to Spokane and into the Inland empire. We will briefly sojourn into the wilderness of the North Cascades, before crossing the Cascades via Leavenworth. Our caravan will explore the metropolis of Seattle, then go north and explore the Salish sea and the San Juan islands observing Orcas, Otters, and other marine life in their native habitat. We will explore the Olympic peninsula. Look down the throat of Mount St. Helens and the mouth of the Columbia River, as it spills into the Pacific Ocean creating some of the most treacherous waters in North America. We will move on from there into the Willamette valley then continue south via land and along the Oregon coast. Then work our way North again through Central Oregon to Bend and observe the regions volcanic legacy. Our journey will end near Government Camp with a final dinner at Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood.
