Getting there via the NCDOT Ferry system - 3 options.

From the South from Cedar Island - reservations required, there is a charge for passage (~$45 for 40-60' of total length), and the duration is 2:15 across the Pamlico Sound

From the East from Swan Quarter - reservations required, there is a charge for passage (~$45 for 40-60' of total length), and the duration is 2:40 across the Pamlico Sound

From the North from Hatteras Island - no reservation required (1st come 1st served), Free, duration 90 mins.  However, at peak season I've waited as long as 2 hours to board.

NC Ferry Information

Ocracoke is located at the southernmost tip of the Outer Banks, within the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The island is known for its expansive, sandy beaches.

The charming Village of Ocracoke is rich in history, from its days of piracy to its role during World War II. Visitors can explore an array of unique shops, cozy restaurants, historic memorials, and the iconic lighthouse. For adventure seekers, deep-sea fishing trips are also a popular activity.

Located just seven miles south of the campground, the town has a laid-back, Key West vibe, with friendly locals who gather at dockside bars to watch the sunset and enjoy live music. The fresh seafood is a highlight, and the town is both walkable and golf cart-friendly.

For those attending the Boondocking Event, keep in mind that ferry service is required to reach the island.
