Sand Dunes Rally

The Great Sand Dunes Rally is a special place to enjoy the outdoors and springtime in the Rocky Mountains. Four wonderful days will be spent exploring the magnificent National Park and surrounding area. The centerpiece of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is the 30 square-mile dune field, featuring the tallest dunes in North America. In the park you can hike the dunes, frolic in Medano Creek, make use of the four wheel drive trail, try sand boarding, or observe the night sky. The Sangre de Cristo Mountains offer breathtaking views as a backdrop to the Park and the Campground.

The area offers hiking to Zapata Falls, several nearby natural hot springs resorts, and the opportunity to ride the historic Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, a National Historic Landmark.  At 64 miles in length it is the longest, highest and most authentic steam railroad in North America, traveling through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Rocky Mountain West.

The campground is just a few miles away from the entrance to the Park and includes a store, sand boarding rental equipment, a good restaurant, excellent restrooms with showers and full hook-ups. The rally will fill almost the entire campground. We will offer a meet-and-greet dinner upon your arrival and a special Sunday morning breakfast. The campground is at an elevation of 8200 feet, so plan on experiencing springtime weather in the Rockies. We will have planned activities, the usual Happy Hours and campfires, weather permitting an outdoor movie, plenty of time to explore on your own, and we even have time to set up your camera to take nighttime pictures. We look forward to a fun-filled weekend in the Colorado Rocky Mountains with dear friends and the opportunity to make new friends, enjoying each other's company.

Welcome Meet & Greet Dinner and Sunday Breakfast $17 pp for both.

The meet-and-greet dinner Thursday will be grilled burgers and bratwurst with the necessary fixings to add to your sandwich, plus pie. 

The Sunday breakfast will be steel cut crockpot oatmeal, with all the fixings, including two kinds of ice cream.  Doubters will quickly become fans.  Coffee will also be offered.
