April and the start of the Sierra Nevada Unit camping season are right around the corner. If you haven’t been to Ft Churchill State Historic Park, it’s a wonderful little campground tucked in the trees along the banks of the Carson River. We have a ranger-led tour scheduled for Wednesday, April 23 during the day and hope you can join us for one or all the camping days. Wondering what to do at Fort Churchill? Fishing, Buckland Station tour, mountain/gravel cycling and dark sky viewing are options. This is a great “close to home” opportunity for a “shakedown” camping trip. The Roots have reserved campsite #13 April 21-24. Feel free to make your own reservation or given this is mid-week, just show up.
