Come Join Us at Some of NC’s Best Beaches – The Outer Banks!  September 17-20, 2020
NC Outer Banks Rally @ Sanctuary Vineyards
7005 Caratoke Highway, Jarvisburg, NC

Located on Caratoke Highway (NC 158) in Currituck County’s Inner Banks (Jarvisburg) lies a little piece of paradise called Sanctuary Vineyards.  This Airstream adventure, hosted by Greg and Lynne Wilson, will introduce you to Sommelier John Wright and his award-winning selection of wines.

You will be camping at the vineyard among the vines; behind the winery you can almost taste their exquisite Wild Pony WhiteSweet Serenity, and Morton, among other wines.  The first 10 sites are Electric / Water / Pump-Out Service at $20/day, and all other sites are Water & Pump-Out Service at $15/day.

There will be will be a “Canvas and Corks” session again this year!  This is a fun-filled opportunity to try out your artistic skills by painting a picture led by photographer-artist Candace Owens , and while sipping your choice of Sanctuary Vineyards wine!  You will be supplied with a blank canvas (16″ x 20″), pencils, paints, brushes, “palette” (usually a paper plate), water to clean your brushes, and a glass of Sanctuary Vineyards wine of your choice.  Additional glasses of wine are, of course, available for you to purchase, which you will surely want to do.
In order to reserve this session, we will need at least FIVE people.  If you are interested, please ensure you check off the “Canvas & Corks” session on the RSVP form.

There are also many nearby attractions to see and experience during this Rally!

A short walk from the Vineyard is The Cotton Gin, also owned by the Wright family, offers a unique shopping experience filled with beach remembrances, collectibles, apparel, home furnishings and more.  Unfortunately the Cotton Gin had an extensive fire in October 2019 that destroyed the building.  We hope the reconstruction and reopening are completed in time for our September 2020 rally.

A boat trip from Dew’s Island (part of the Wright Family Farm) to the Currituck Outer Banks.  The boat leaves from Dew’s Island and docks at Currituck Heritage Park, location of the historic Whalehead Club, a 1920s era art nouveau architectural masterpiece.  A tour of The Whalehead Club is available. Adjacent to the Whalehead Club is the North Carolina Wildlife Education Center.  A short walk takes you to the 1873 162-foot all brick Currituck Beach Lighthouse.  Climb the 220-step winding staircase for a panoramic view of the Currituck Sound, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Currituck Outer Banks.

For those interested in shopping, directly across from Currituck Heritage Park is a cluster of small shops, boutiques, and eateries.  All of these attractions are within walking distance of the boat dock.

Within a quarter-mile of Sanctuary Vineyards is The Weeping Radish Farm Brewery, a microbrewery offering tours and a farm-to-table pub with German inspired grub.  Here you may enjoy authentic Bavarian brew, restaurant, a locally sourced butcher’s facility and farm.  Tours of the Weeping Radish Brewery are also available.

Many attractions are also on “Beach Road” and the Outer Banks beaches, including:

The Monument to a Century of Flight.  There are 14 pylons memorializing the history of flight.  It is located    behind the Kitty Hawk Visitors Center, about a 15-minute drive from the vineyard.

The Wright Brothers National Memorial, where in 1903, the Wilbur and Orville Wright made the first flight.  It is located in Kill Devil Hills, a half hour from the Vineyard on NC 12.

The Atlantic OceanSanctuary Vineyards is a short drive to the Atlantic beaches.
