The Frazier Group Campground is two miles southeast of historic Roosevelt Dam. From Mesa: Take State Route (SR) 87 (Beeline Highway) North for about 60 miles to its junction with SR 188. Turn right onto SR 188 for 35 miles to the campground. The entire route is paved.

From the Globe area: Take SR 188 north for 28 miles to the campground. The entire route is paved.


This rally is three nights of DRY camping at the Frazier Group Campground at Roosevelt Lake in the Tonto National Forest. The campground overlooks Roosevelt Lake and is nestled in the saguaro cactus-studded Sonoran Desert.  

This will be a "no host" rally, meaning it's a camping-only event with no formal agenda or host provided meals. Look for an email a month before the rally with details for a "structured potluck-style cookout" (SignUpGenius link) and a link to join the WhatsApp group chat.  


Things to do:

  • Hiking in the Tonto National Forest | For experienced hikers, (trail rated: Moderate-Difficult) 
  • Upper Cliff Dwelling tours led by park staff are offered once a day Saturdays and Sundays, November-April. Reservations are required for this hike and can be made beginning October 1st.
  • Hikers, and mountain bikers can access the Arizona National Scenic Trail from the campground via the Frazier Trail. There are many other trails in the area.
  • Multiple opportunities for enjoying spectacular scenery and learning about the area's pre-history, history, flora, fauna, or geology include visiting Tonto National Monument cliff dwellings (National Park Service), driving portions of the Apache Trail Historic Road (State Hwy 88) and Desert to Tall Pines Scenic Road (State Hwy 288) or visiting the Tonto Basin Visitors Center.

Facilities
Frazier's large open parking area accommodates trailers and pull vehicles arranged in a variety of parking configurations. Facilities include vault toilets, a shelter with group-sized picnic tables, grills, and fire rings, a watering trough, and water hydrants.

 

Natural Features
At an elevation of 2,200 feet, the group site has stunning views of the blue water and sunsets against three mountainous wilderness areas.


Need to cancel?

We get it—plans change! But if canceling costs the club, you’ll need to cover that expense. AAC rallies aren’t about making money, but we also can’t take a loss.

If you cancel within 30 days of the rally, the Rally Fee is non-refundable.

To cancel, please notify the Arizona Airstream Club (AAC) directly—don’t contact Dead Horse Ranch State Park. AAC has already prepaid for the reserved sites, which will be assigned about a week before the event.
