Sipping Across California Caravan 2025

Join us for the first Sipping Across California Caravan created and hosted by Grapes & Grains members. This Caravan will be held from October 11th ending the morning of October 28th.  We will visit five regions in California, each with its own character and adventure.

Our first stop is in iconic South Lake Tahoe where we will kick off our caravan gathering for some famous fresh air and fun at the campground over 6000 feet above sea level. On our first full day, we can take in any number of famous activities while getting to know old and new friends alike at a High Sierra mountain brewery.

Our first drive day will take us west over the Sierra Nevada mountains to the historic Gold Rush foothills town of Jackson, the county seat for Amador County and home to the state’s oldest grape vines. Motorcoach will transport us to several wineries in the Shenandoah Valley with many award winning wines to experience.  The timing of grape harvest should provide us the opportunity for the critical wine making step of stomping some grapes with our new favorite friends on caravan.

The second drive day west will traverse the Sacramento Valley and into world famous Napa, California, the second most visited tourist attraction in all of California (Disneyland is #1).  Since this drive day will be within a few miles of Vinnie’s Northbay Airstream Repair, let’s stop in for lunch with Vinny!  Four nights in Napa will provide us a taste of many opportunities to include two days of touring wineries and distilleries.  For your “day on or own”, maybe dinner on the Napa Wine Train or at the French Laundry (no masks required).

The third drive day will take us to the western end of Interstate 80 as we drive through San Francisco on our way to quaint Half Moon Bay.  Four nights there will give another great experience in California and the opportunity to soak in the picturesque Pacific Ocean. More tasting at a few distilleries and breweries coupled with a day on our own will add to some great memories with folks we likely by now consider family.

The last drive day of this caravan will take us a little south and back into the wine country of Paso Robles, half way between San Francisco and Los Angeles California.  The area is known for its hot springs, abundance of wineries, production of olive oil, and almond orchards.  As this is a beautiful region of California’s Central Coast, it is very easy to see why William Randall Hearst would build his famous castle only 40 miles away.  With hugs-for and toasts-to friends both old and new, we all will be rolling off to the next adventures.
