Streamin’ in the Highlands Rally April 22 – 26, 2021

Highlands Hammock is a lovely wooded park built by the CCC. It is one of the first state parks in south central Florida, about 4 miles west of Sebring, Florida, off U.S. 27. It has been described as “Old Florida” with lots of wild-life, hiking trails and many miles of bicycle trails in the park, one that connects to a trail into the town of Sebring. Old Florida history continues with the nearby Cracker Trail, the cattle trail with a rich history, the subject of the book, “A Land Remembered” by Patrick Smith. That area of the state offers many activities to explore including air boat rides on Lake Istokpoga and the gardens and carillon at Bok Tower.

Arrival & set up after 2 pm

5 pm              Happy Hour & Announcements at rally site, Ice Cream Social
6 pm              Dinner on your own
7 pm              Evening socializing

Friday
Breakfast on your own
9:30 am         Bike ride in the park, meet at rally site
2 pm              Distillery Tour, Sugar Sand Distillery, Lake Placid, FL
Free time       Consider visiting Henscratch Farm near the distillery or downtown Lake Placid to see the murals
5 pm               Happy Hour/Auction for Fisher House at rally site
6 pm               Dinner: Grill night, steaks, potatoes & salad provided, grills at rally site
7 pm               Evening socializing

Saturday
8 - 9:30am     Breakfast provided:  Mike’s Big Breakfast
9:30 am         Sewing Project: Zipper/Velcro lined fabric Pouch, at rally site
                      Tire Roundtable Discussion, location TBD

Free time       Consider Bluegrass & Blueberry Festival in Avon Park, 10 am – 4 pm
5 pm               Happy Hour at rally site,
6 pm               Dinner on your own
7pm                Evening socializing

Sunday
8 am               Bike ride in the park, meet at rally site
10 - 11 am       Egg in a Bag & Cheesy Grits Breakfast
1 pm               Group Hike, trail TBD
5 pm               Happy Hour at rally site
6 pm               Dinner on your own
7 pm               Evening socializing, Movie night

Monday
Breakfast on your own
9 am               Break camp and leave for home.  Safe travels, see you down the road!
