NMU - Carlsbad Caverns Rally 2024
We will be camping at Brantley Lake State Park in the Limestone Campground, $14.00 per night. You must make your own camping reservations, (New Mexico State Park Brantley Lake).
After you have made your camping reservation, you must fill and submit the Registration and Payment Form to attend the rally.
Rally Fee: $10.00/per person
Enjoy the beautiful fall weather in the southeast corner of New Mexico. We will be staying at New Mexico State Park Brantley Lake, an oasis of wildlife, plant life, gorgeous sunsets, and stunning night skies.
Begin the rally with a Happy Hour and pot-luck dinner on Thursday night.
Friday is all about Carlsbad Caverns. Get your walking shoes on and get ready to be in awe. Once in the Caverns, you’ll be greeted by the magnificence of the Big Room, a cavern so large actor and comedian Will Rogers called it “the Grand Canyon with a roof over it.” Guadalupe Mountains National Park is just across the Texas State Line and is not far from Carlsbad NP, if you are up for more exploring.
Late Saturday morning we will head to Sitting Bull Falls. This desert oasis features a series of spring-fed waterfalls that fall 150 feet to a large pool of water below. There is an ADA accessible path to the falls viewing area a short distance from the parking lot, along with several hiking trails.
Saturday afternoon, New Mexico Unit President Laura Netherlin will show you around Artesia with a walking tour showcasing the many bronze art sculptures and murals throughout the town. We will conclude Saturday with a Happy Hour and Smores.
