To the Members of the New Jersey Unit,
As I complete my first 120 days as your President, I want to share what we have accomplished together and where we are headed next.
When I stepped into this role, I was grateful to inherit a club with strong spirit, dedicated members, and a proud history. Working alongside the Executive Board, my priority has been to build on that foundation by strengthening our structure, improving communication, and keeping our mission clear: supporting members and strengthening our Airstream community.
We kicked off the year with our excursion at Colonial Airstream, which set a positive tone and reaffirmed the enthusiasm within our unit.
Over these first 120 days, we have made meaningful progress in governance, communication, and member engagement.
Together, we have aligned our governance practices more closely with our Constitution, By-Laws, and Airstream Club International guidance. Meeting notices, documentation, and recordkeeping have been standardized to make our processes clearer, more transparent, and more sustainable.
We have also strengthened how we communicate with members.
Our club website has been refreshed and repositioned as the official archive for minutes, election information, and important announcements. We have also launched a new Facebook presence that is already becoming an active forum for sharing photos, rally information, and member stories. Regular President’s messages are helping members stay informed about what is happening and why. In addition, we are developing a quarterly newsletter to celebrate events, recognize participation, and keep all members informed.
Most important, we have renewed our focus on member outreach and engagement.
We have made it a priority to connect personally with both new and long-standing members by reaching out, inviting participation, and encouraging attendance at rallies and meetings. A club does not grow through systems alone; it grows when members feel welcomed, included, and valued.
As we move into the next phase of the year, I encourage every member to:
- Attend an upcoming rally or meeting.
- Share your experiences on our Facebook page.
- Submit photos or stories for the newsletter.
- Invite another member to join an event or activity.
- Volunteer in a small way.
The strength of this club does not rest solely on its officers. It depends on the engagement of its members.
I am proud of what we have accomplished in these first 100 days. More importantly, I am optimistic about what we can continue to build together: a club that is organized, transparent, welcoming, and fun.
Thank you for your trust, your participation, and your shared commitment to the New Jersey Unit.
With appreciation,
James Lorden
President
New Jersey Unit
