Having Fun in Our Airstreams Since 1973
Our History, Legacy & Video Archives
SEMAC can trace its roots to 1957 when the Michigan Unit was formed, but it was in 1973 when we officially created the Metropolitan Detroit Michigan Unit #137. The Unit became part of Region 4.
Over time, the makeup of the Metro-Detroit Unit evolved to create a Club that was a mix of working and retired members which remains true today. Over the years, the geographic area that is called home by members of the Metro-Detroit expanded to cover much of the mid and southeastern portion of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, and sometimes even further.
In 2018, the Metro Detroit Unit changed its name to the Southeastern Michigan Airstream Club to reflect our expanding geographic diversity.
We believe you find the Southeastern Michigan Airstream Club a friendly diverse group of Airstream owners who love to camp and share stories. We think our Club by-line says it all - Having Fun in our Airstreams! All you need to join us is a fun loving spirit, the love of camping and an Airstream.
We are proud of our Airstream heritage and the history of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International. Below are links to several historical Airstream movies made between 1957 and 1985. Many of the movies are about the incredible early Airstream Caravans around the world, but a few show Airstreams being manufactured. Enjoy!
